This year has been an extremely happening year. I have experienced a ton of new friendships, opportunities, and goodbyes. As I have looked back on all that has gone on, I am reminded that a year is a little bit of a lot of time. One of my happiest memories has been marching band. It was then I was able to learn the true meaning of perserverance.
I remember my section leader telling me I would eventually know how to march well, but not without concentration. The key to being a good marcher, is determination and focus. Someone can want to be good, but until they make that first step of action...they will never reach their goals.
Friendship was another one of my additions this year. I met many friends who taught me to become a better, less self-absorbed person. When one has a person who needs them, they forget how to think about their petty little self.
As for the goodbyes, I met a girl named Jasmine Guevera, and about the time we started to know each other really well, she was murdered. She taught me that life is short, but you can leave an impression on many hearts.
Some more goodbyes were; going home from camp friends, switching schools, and changing houses. Each had their difficulties, but also their advantages.
While sitting here, I have had the opportunity to recognize how gracious and loving God is. In Job, it says, “The LORD gave and the LORD has taken away. Blessed be the name of the LORD” (Job 1:21).
My God is such a wonderful God, who loves me so much! I am His priority. This time I have on earth is so precious, and with Hi help I hope to make a difference in people's lives. You could say that is my "New Year's Resolution."
